Buffalo Cauliflower
My family and I are huge fans of wings. Whether they are buffalo, lemon pepper, Jamaican jerk, or any other flavor, the Celestine’s looooove some wings. Since doing a three day juice cleanse, I figured I would take it easy with all of the fried foods and Chick-Fil-A orders. So today I decided to make my family some buffalo cauliflower to see what they would say.
Cauliflower is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, containing some of almost every vitamin and mineral that you need and did you know it’s high in fiber?
The Recipe
This recipe was fairly easy to follow and had only a handful of ingredients (which is what I like).
After mixing the dry and wet ingredients, this is what the cauliflower looked like in my air fryer. Now, the video version (which is what I followed first) shows them cooking the buffalo cauliflower in the air fryer but the recipe online says to put them in the oven…so I did both to see if there was a difference.
The cauliflower went into the air fryer for 14 min (as per the video) and another batch went into the over (per the online instructions).
The Sauce
I typically make my own buffalo sauce using a combination of Kroger’s Buffalo Spicy Garlic Sauce, Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, butter, and a little honey. I simmer the sauce on a low burner and let it cook for about 1-2 minutes.
The Finish
Once the cauliflower finished in the air fryer and in the oven, I tossed them in the buffalo sauce and served them with a side of ranch.
I must say that I prefer the oven version better because (1) the clean up was waaaay easier (2) the cauliflower had more of a crunch but I did notice with both versions that once sauced, the buffalo cauliflower batter began to slide off a bit. Also, my air fryer cleanup is a mess because of the drippings from the batter into the basket…ugh.
Anywho, the family loved this mid afternoon snack and I enjoyed making it. Will I make it again…absolutely!
