Homemade Pizza Dough

Papa what? Pizza who? DomiNO’s! If you’ve been following my Instagram Stories then you’ve seen me make my now famous homeade pizza several times. Now that I’ve learned and pretty much mastered making my own pizza from scratch we’ll probably never have one delivered again.

The first 3 times attempted this cheesy monster I used Fleishmann’s pizza yeast to make our pizzas but because of the pandemic there has and still is a yeast shortage (along with just about everything else). Fleishmann’s pizza yeast comes in a pack of 3 so I was able to use the them and then convert my instant yeast into the same pizza dough recipe to make it work.

Because the grocery stores were having a shortage of yeast I turned to my good ole’ trusty friend, Amazon. I found an instant yeast that was just as good and doesn’t necessarily have to be set aside to let rise. I’ve also used this yeast to make my aun’t famous homemade dinner rolls.

Saf Instant Yeast comes in a 1 lb bag from Amazon for about $8. The measurement to use is 2 1/4 teaspoons in the pizza dough recipe in place of the Fleishmann’s pizza yeast. If you do happen to get your hands of the Fleishmann’s pizza yeast you’ll o…

Here I’ve let my dough rise for about 15 minutes before rolling it out.

Using a rolling pin has been my saving grace with dough. The first few times I used my hands to try and stretch it without leaving holes (which worked) but was a bit more tedious.

We have an extra large non stick pizza pan that I got from Kroger a while back not realizing how big it acutally was until I made a pizza. This means I have to roll out the dough a little larger than the pan so that it’s even all the way around.

Next I roll it onto the rolling pin to pick it up and roll the dough on to the pan without tearing holes in it.

As you can see there is a bit of access dough left around the edges which is good. You’d rather it be bigger than the pan than smaller.

Trim the access dough off with a knife or pizza cutter.

*You can use the access dough to make a personal pizza for a child or someone who doesn’t like a lot of toppings. Just roll them together with the rolling pin and place the dough on another pan.
