Self Care Saturday Pt. 2

A few weeks ago I was on “the gram” like I tend to do everyday and came across this video on a DIY Milk Bath instructed by none other than Sir John! Now for those of you that don't know who this handsome young man is, Sir John is a makeup artist for the one and only Beyonce'.

He's a celebrated makeup artist in the beauty industry not only for his dashing good looks but his creative talent for our very own Houston native. Sir John is always giving great beauty advice on his page and this particular video (part 1) was one that I had to try for myself.

I've never had a milk bath before so I really wanted to try it. Here's what you'll need to get started:
1 lb Bag of Dry Milk
1 cup of Himalayan Salt
3 oz of Vitamin E Oil (I used Almond Oil)
Eucalyptus Oil (I used Lemon Eucalyptus oil with a few drops of lavender)

Here’s what it looked like

milk-bath

This milk bath smelled so good and I must say that it was a great bath. I poured myself a glass of wine and lit a few candles while enjoying some soft spa music while in the tub.

When drawing the bath, I found that mixing each ingredient into the water one at a time worked best. I had to be careful with the dry milk because if I poured too much at one time it would create small balls of dry milk that I had to separate later. I will definitely "salt" the dry milk in next time while mixing it around with my other hand simultaneously.

The Himalayan salt didn't seem to dissolve like I thought it would so I ended up with granules at the bottom of the tub which didn't feel great on my bum. So again, I'll try and mix it better the next time I do the bath. But as for the rest of the bath, everything was great. when I got out I patted my skin with the towel to dry off and to lock in the moisture. My skin felt so amazingly soft and hydrated and there was no need for lotion because of the oil which is great for me because I hate putting on lotion.

Something to keep in mind with this bath is that it's mainly for soaking and relaxing so you'll want to take a shower before hopping in so that you won't have to wash afterwards. Enjoy!
